Info

The Challenge

Within the 4 hour time limit (or shorter 2 hour course option), complete as many circuits or loops of the set cross country course as you can. The riding will be a combination of narrow singletrack and wide fire roads. You will need to punch control points on each loop to register that you have completed each one - a basic route map will be provided at registration plus parts of the route will be taped, arrowed and marshalled. Once the 4 hour (or shorter 2 hour) limit is reached you will not be allowed to start another loop (NB you do not need to ride for the full 2 or 4 hours to take part). The winner is the person who completes the greatest number of loops within the time limit. Each full loop is approx 10-15km but they may well be split into two smaller loops with a pass through a main start/finish area each time – full details will be provided at registration on the day. If you wish you will be able to pre-ride the loops on the morning of the event (so long as you arrive in good time and you then aren’t late for the 10.00am start!).p>

Control sites will be identified by bright coloured tape on obvious features to which a SPORTident scoring box will be attached. “Dib” in the SPORTident box at the start, finish, all controls visited and THE DOWNLOAD BOX at the end! You must use a SPORTident dibber to take part in the event. You may use your own dibber (please fill in its number on the entry form). Alternatively we will rent you one automatically. You will need to present your SI dibber to any marshal on demand i.e. no dibber = no entry!!

You need to join the Trail Cyclist Association to ride. This is FREE

The Start/Finish

There will be a Le Mans style running start at 10.00am. Riders will need to complete a short circuit on foot before collecting their bikes to ride. The course closes at 14.30hrs. Hot drinks, orange juice and biscuits will be available at the finish.

Entry & Results

NO FINAL DETAILS WILL BE SENT OUT. If you wish to have confirmation of a postal entry please enclose a SAE. Numbers will be limited! If entering late ring 01335 348603 to check that entries are still available. Provisional results will be displayed on the day. Full results will be on the Dark & White and TCA websites after the events.

Equipment

A roadworthy bike, helmet (ANSI or BSI only – not climbing, caving or canoeing types) and a watch are compulsory for this event. Spot checks may be carried out to ensure you comply with these requirements. You should bring food/drink sufficient for the duration of the event. This may be left in a taped off area near the start/finish, which is riden past after each loop.

Prizes/Class Awards

Class winners and runners up will win a combination of prizes from Hike, Bike & Ride (Hathersage), Buff, Squirt plus Dark & White Events. NB - classes may be merged if entries are low. There will be a prize giving on the day after the event.
