Dark and White Update (10/07/2009 03:40:30)

Dark and White Update

- 1) It's the Cliffhanger Weekend tomorrow and Sunday. It should be a great weekend with something for everybody from toddlers upwards.
2) The Long Tour of Bradwell route is on the website
3) The winter Mini Mountain Marathon and Hope Moors and Tors entries open next week

1) We are running three events on Saturday which are all FREE, once you’ve paid your £5 entry fee.

11am

4km 350' climb Urban Fell Race. Starts from the Cricket Pitch at the north of Millhouses Park- (to simplify things you can pay your £5 entry fee to us and use your race number to enter the site afterwards) (minimum age 14yo under FRA rules)

From 12.30 to 2pm

You can start either a 2 hour Mini Mountain Marathon or a 2 hour Trailquest (for the super sporty I am sure we can arrange for you to do both!! But you'll need to start the first early). Minimum age for the MMM 14yo when competing in a generation team with a parent/ guardian 20+ yo. For the Trailquest the minimum age is 12yo in a generation team (although we can accept younger entrants as long as their parent / guardian considers then mature/ strong enough and is in complete control of their junior at all times. To ride you will need to join the Trail Cyclist Association for FREE, as an associate member, and contribute £1 on the day towards third party insurance costs)

FREE Parking at the Bannerdale Centre

There are lots of other activities on including a clildrens play area, climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, skiing(!), caving, and orienteering. All within the site

2) The map for the Long Tour of Bradwell (August 8th) is now on the website. Some of the checkpoint locations will change slightly but the route is now complete. It has a real mix of terrain and views. If you do recce it, please pass on you comments and ideally give me an idea of how long it takes to run the sections. I will need to impose a cut off half way at Ladybower Damn and it would be good to get an idea of how long it takes different runners to cross the ground

3) Entries for the winter MMM and the Hope Moors and Tors starts next week. The HMT will be just for runners this year. The parking is the same but we will be using the Hope Sport Pavilion , across the road, for the Registration/ Finish area.
