Rab Mountain Marathon Update 19-09-08 (19/09/2008 09:42:23)

Rab Mountain Marathon Update

Only 7ds to go so you need to get the final details sorted…

1) Car Share

Car parking is limited and it makes sense to share if possible. To assist with this I have set up a car share blog for those interested in sharing lifts. Go to If you can offer a lift, or need one, why not log on and set up a thread. You need to register as a user on the blog, otherwise it is very simple to use. In addition I have posted the final start list. It is sorted by club to allow you to look for fellow runners. To start something off, Alan Thompson is offering up a Landrover travelling from the Hull/York area able to take up to 7 and Gordon Rowan needs a lift from the London Area

(Alternatively you can get a list sorted by category)

2) Kit list

You need to carry a minimum amount of kit. Please print off the list.

You need to print a copy and bring this to the event- please add your name and start number to the sheet, READ it and pack the kit. There will be kit checks at the event

3) Disclaimer

This also needs printing, reading carefully and signing. Please again add your start number and names to the sheet and hand it in at registration

4) Registration

The Registration is at Fell Side and the start about 200m from the car park. Don’t be too late arriving! But at least its not 2mls to the start. For a venue map go to

Remember you must approach the venue from the Green Head/ Branthwaite direction, and leave towards Long Lea/ Parkend. The roads are narrow and we need to have a smooth flow of one way traffic.

The Event Centre will open from 7pm to 11pm on Friday and 7am to 9.30am on Saturday. Camping will be made available on site. If you arrive later on the Friday night, please follow the signs to the camp site. Be considerate of those already sleeping!

There is no pub in the village (or near the overnight camp)!!

You will be able to register any time from 7.00pm – 10.00pm on the Friday and from 7.00am - 9.00am on Saturday. You can choose your own start time (Day 1 between 9.00am and 10.30am, Day 2 between 7.00am and 8.00am Elite and 7.30am and 9.00am all other classes). If you have your own dibber you will be allowed to use the rapid registration form/table; all you need do on the morning is to sign-in to confirm that your entry details are correct (letting us know of any team/class/dibber number changes), hand in your kit list and disclaimer forms and then clear your SPORTident dibbers before heading to the start.
