Round 2 of the DW4 Challenge (Sunday 12th July) is from the Cliffhanger Outdoor Show in Sheffield (27/05/2009 00:36:08)

The DW4 Challenge Round 2 will take place from the Cliffhanger Outdoor Show this year. This will give us lots of scope to add even more interest to the Challenge.

Important points to note

  1. Entering the DW Challenge gives you free entry to Cliffhanger on the Sunday- you’ll need to park at the Bannerdale Centre (close by) then cycle to the event and enter via a specific entry point, but after that you are at liberty to take in the entire site. Your friends and family will need to pay their own entry fee (£5) but there will be plenty to do there for both the young and old and there should be the opportunity to watch you compete!
  2. There is safe cycle park but you will need your own lock
  3. To conform with the opening times of the show we have moved the start time to around 11am (not 9am to 10am as previously noted)
  4. To fit in with all the other activities and specific time slots you will all be starting in a short period! i.e. 10.50am ‘til 11am. If you are late starting you will have less time for your run section.

The event will have this rough format

  1. An interesting place for the start box- it may involve a climb or an obstacle to get to the start box….
  2. A 90 minute semi urban run out of the event with a score format like our previous events
  3. A 20-30 minute run within the show using the Ultrasprint orienteering map. You will need to use a second SI dibber (provided) and you may have the odd obstacle to cross too….
  4. A 120 minute trailquest MTB navigation outside the show ground and into the Peak District
  5. An interesting place for the finish box - you may get wet (it's not swimming, canoeing or sailing!)

To help identify you as you enter and leave the venue you will need to wear a race number on your clothing for this event.

We will update you with more information as the event approaches. Please contact us if you have any more questions.
